Our world today is such a fast-paced and busy one. And every day we go through some kind of stress or the other including stress from work, family, life’s issues and even from within us.

Going through stress frequently is not good for our health. In fact it can lead to more serious health problems.

Generally, stress can be managed by simple habits, principles and lifestyle changes.

Here are a few tips to help you put stress at bay.

  1. Exercise regularly; if possible, have a deliberate schedule for exercise.
  2. Identify your stress triggers and avoid them.
  3. Set aside time to relax alone, or with people.
  4. Always eat a healthy, balanced diet.
  5. Avoid nicotine (tobacco), drugs and alcohol – Some people resort to these substances to avoid stress but they actually complicate it.
  6. Cut down on intake of caffeine and refined sugars.
  7. Always get quality sleep in a comfortable environment.
  8. Make out time to rest if you are ill.
